Father Prout:

The prouts who will invent a writing there ultimately is the poeta, still, more learned, who discovered the raiding there originally. That’s the point of eschatology our book of kills reaches for now in soandso many counterpoint words. What can’t be coded can be decorded if an ear aye sieze what no eye ere grieved for. p. 482. Finnegans Wake.

Large Glass on a floor with moving youth; "Vulva, Vulva, Vulva, Vulva…" Sorry Sageness. Remainder of the Rainbow Girls through a synaesthetic clutter of sounds in the Head. The painted forms in the Book of Kells eschews much that would be word, sentence and meaning and offers in part exchange a poetry of scrolls, overlapping forms, accents and colours, seized by the eye to be coded and decoded in the mind of the rhetorically-minded individual whose less-than-devout knowledge of mere things and objects here comes under a laughable form of attack - eye and ear are required.

Joyce, from the perspective of a cultural producer, intuitively recognized the emergence of digital culture. Joyce’s intuition of this Cyberculture has been established in articles by Derrida, Eco and Laurence James; and in books and articles by Darren Tofts, Lorraine Weir and myself, particularly my James Joyce’s Techno-Poetics (Theall 1997). Joyce’s treatment anticipates such cybernetic concepts as code, surprise or deviation, memory storage, non-linearity, transversality, link, frame and even with a very slight stretch of hermeneutic imagination, bit and bite. Besides, he is most likely the earliest writer to practice so comprehensively, complexly and exhaustively the poetic strategies of intertextuality - or perhaps more properly, of interdiscursivity - in order to create a major anticipation of hypermedia. (Donald Theall. Joyce’s Practice of Intertextuality: The Anticipation of Hypermedia and Its Implications for Textual Analysis of Finnegans Wake). Page 482 Finnegans Wake.
